Skyler White
Artist/Illustrator
Originally a Texas native, Skyler has drawn since a very early age and has always been fascinated with animals and learning everything she could about them. Moving to West Monroe in 2012 and growing up with constant animal companions, both in and outside the house, inspiration was never lacking.
Once she entered high school, Skyler began cultivating her skills and discovered a love for colored pencils, which carried into college. Through her time at the University of Louisiana Monroe and majoring in Radiologic Technology, Skyler continued to learn her craft on her own time, through different sources and experimenting until she achieved the realistic style she has today. She enjoys the challenge of realism and catching the little details of each piece of artwork, constantly trying a new technique or textures in each of her pieces. Her extensive research into each animal she draws and love of learning helps to connect her with the subject. With this she accurately draws them, but also seeks to capture the animal’s soul on paper. Armed with this and her eye for detail she is able to create stunning portraits of a variety of wildlife and also of loved one’s pets.
Since graduating from ULM in 2024, Skyler now works at a local hospital and fulfills her desire for helping people as a Radiologic Technologist working in x-ray, CT, and in surgery, as well as drawing pet portraits and wildlife. Being able to have both careers fills her soul with joy and balances out different aspects of her life.
