Larry Cavalier

Abstract Artist

Larry was born in 1959 in San Antonio, Texas, and at the age of 3, the Cavalier family moved back to their roots in south Louisiana. In Gonzales, Louisiana, his parents, both artists, opened Cavalier Photography leading to the addition of an art gallery and frame shop. Receiving instructions in art from his parents along with the many artists his parents hosted for workshops and recurring classes, Larry was exposed to a wealth of knowledge in many different styles, mediums and presentations of fine art.

Larry attended LSU in marketing and after working in several other fields he returned to the family business which now included wholesale picture frame moulding sales. After developing extensive contacts in the art gallery and picture framing industry, he and his father established Cavalier Graphics, a fine art print publishing company. Larry then partnered with Raul Mercier Gallery in Canada to also offer original artwork to galleries throughout the south. Later he joined Wizard International, a computerized mat cutter company selling to and then training end users. Larry Cavalier has been involved in the world of art his entire life.

As a teen, Larry's love for hunting, fishing and sports in the beautiful southern outdoors led him to pick up the camera more often than the brush. This molded his true passion for photography. Over the next few decades, he was rarely without a camera at his side.

Larry followed his heart to Monroe, Louisiana, and married Lenece Laseter. Together they own and operate Artistic Designs Incorporated, a local art gallery and frame shop.

Then in 2020, Larry’s world turned upside down when he suffered a stroke and lost most of the use of his right hand. His free style of photography became lost to him along with other loves like hunting and fishing. Not to be robbed of his creative outlet, Larry again picked up a brush, this time teaching himself to use his left hand!
